UGG® is proud to launch its new PLANT POWER collection featuring three pairs of shoes carefully crafted with plant-based materials for zero carbon impact.
The brand’s iconic designs are reinvented with renewable sugarcane, Hevea rubber, natural hemp and TENCEL™ fibers all responsibly harvested.
“At UGG, we are committed to doing our part to fight climate change,” said Andrea O’Donnell, president of Deckers Brands. “Our design team took inspiration from our iconic styles and created new designs made with carbon-neutral and plant-based materials. The collection shows that it’s possible to create iconic styles responsibly and is an exciting step in our journey to a more sustainable future. “
Recreating the iconic look and feel of the Fluff collection, the Fluff Sugar sandal is designed using plant-based materials. The SugarSole™ outsole consists of renewable sugarcane to reduce fossil fuels and replace petroleum-based materials, as sugarcane is a rainwater-dependent resource that removes CO2 from the atmosphere and does not require irrigation. The faux fur consists of wood pulp processed into textile fibers using TENCEL™ Lyocell technology.
This pulp is responsibly harvested and the trees from which it comes are grown on farms certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), two leading organizations that promote sustainable forest management.
