Cinema releases come and go, but they’re never the same… Between the platforms and the big screen, Kodd Magazine has selected for you the three must-see women’s releases
Bernadette played by the legendary Catherine Deneuve
Our first recommendation is the film Bernadette, played by Catherine Deneuve, which tells the story of her arrival at the Élysée Palace, the difficulties she has being in her husband’s shadow, and her style, which is considered too old-fashioned. What follows is a long road for the First Lady to take her revenge and finally get the place she deserves. The story of an inspirational women!
Kim Higelin and Jean-Paul Rouve, an explosive duo
It tells the story of a victim of writer Gabriel Matzneff, a renowned French author who describes his relationships with children and young teenagers in some of his autobiographical works. In 1990, Matzneff appeared on the Apostrophe programme to present his book Mes amours décomposés, where he had a lively exchange with Canadian writer Denise Bombardier, who was the only one to object to the trivialisation of his relationships with minors.
Vanessa Filho is adapting her book for the screen, in which she recounts how she fell prey to a man celebrated in literary and intellectual circles, whom she did not name in her book at the time, but who is mentioned in her film. She recounts how, at the age of 13, she caught the eye of a 49-year-old man, and the film shows us how the predator uses letters and words to get close to the young girl and, above all, to manipulate her. What follows is the struggle of a mother, none other than Laetitia Casta, to separate her daughter from the clutches of the writer. There is a fierce battle between the two women.
The Bettencourt Affair: Scandal at the home of the world’s richest woman
The latest recommendation is the Netflix documentary mini-series on Liliane Bettencourt. It follows the life of the businesswoman and major shareholder in L’Oréal cosmetics. We hear about the scandals of the ultra-rich, such as her relationship with writer and photographer François-Marie Banier and the donations he received.
His stormy relationship with his daughter, Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, and their divergent interests, particularly with regard to her placement under guardianship. But also his alleged financing of Nicolas Sarkozy’s campaign, an affair that at the time cast a shadow over his five-year term. Power, money and controversy are an excellent reason to watch the series about the former richest woman in the world, who is well worth watching.
Now you know everything you need to know about the films and series you should see, enjoy your viewing.
