Delocalised is a French comedy directed by Ali and Rédouane Bougheraba, currently showing in cinemas.
The culture clash between France and India
The film tells the story of Rédouane, an employee of a mattress factory who learns on the day of his promotion that his factory is being relocated to India. Determined to keep his new job, he agrees to go there with his partner, Marguerite. Once there, however, he discovers that his boss has cheated him: his salary, which was supposed to be doubled, will be paid in rupees, not euros. Furious, Rédouane decides to take revenge by teaching the Indian workers French methods of social struggle, such as strikes and demonstrations, with the aim of overthrowing his boss.
It is the revolt of the third estate against the bourgeois classes and their ongoing abuses.
The cast includes Rédouane Bougheraba as Rédouane, Vanessa Guide as Marguerite, as well as Josiane Balasko and Antoine Gouy. The film is a blend of humour and social criticism, tackling the themes of culture shock and workers’ struggles in a globalised world.
