Created in 1985 by Jean-Pierre Blanc, the Hyères Festival is an international competition organised around exhibitions, round tables and two competitions.
These two bring together ten designers and ten photographers, pre-selected by juries of professionals. The photography is presented in the form of a group exhibition, while the fashion is shown in the form of a catwalk show. Past winners include artists such as Viktor and Rolf, Anthony Vaccarelo and Lea Peckre.
Here’s a short video to illustrate this giant of a competition:
This year, from 21 to 25 April, Julien Dossena (DA of Paco Rabane) will be welcoming all these beautiful people to the Villa Noailles as president of this 31st edition. Having seen some of the biggest names in fashion pass through their doors as prestigious jury members (Raf Simons, Azzedine Alaïa, Martin Margiela, Dries Van Noten, Yohji Yamamoto…), it’s now the turn of a brand new fashion jury. They include Marc Ascoli (DA Atelier 32), Coco Capitan (Photographer), Charlotte Chesnais (Jewellery Designer), Romain Gavras (Actor and Director), Pierre Hardy (Shoe Designer), Andreas Hoyer, Nicole Phelps (Editor at Vogue), Surkin (DJ), Luis Vengeas (Editor/DA) and Tomoko Ogura (DA Barneys NY).
