R. Djordan, independent French producer, presents here his latest New Jazz Remix. He already has 7 self-produced albums to his name, including one of the tracks on his latest, which was recently presented by jazz pianist André Manoukian.
He likes to experiment with electro/urban sounds, but this time he’s more interested in jazz, with Kesja Bijok on saxophone and Phoenix James on vocals, a female duo. Phoenix James is a singer-songwriter and model based in Miami, USA.
Her indie R&B influences include H.E.R, Moses Sumney, Frank Océan and Solange. Born in Birmingham, she captivated listeners with her track “Limbs”, broadcast on BBC Radio in London, whose instrumental features are reminiscent of the legendary James Brown.
Kesja Bijok is a saxophonist from the Krakow Conservatoire in Poland. With a passion for jazz, R&B and soul, she had the opportunity to appear in a New Jazz remix by Jordan Rakei, an Australian soul singer who has signed a number of tracks to the legendary Blue Note jazz label.
The remix was broadcast several times on Ness Radio, on the ‘music is spiritual‘ programme, hosted by Ness Errahmani. Ness is also press officer for the UK label Acid Jazz Records, and has been involved in exhibitions at the Philarmonie de Paris.
So it’s a great pleasure to find saxophonist Kesja Bijok once again on this Remix with Phoenix James. A subtle mix of R&B and jazz sounds, in the style of the 90s, with the successful aim of softening the original production. This remix was recently selected and broadcast on Jazz London Radio.
