We know Louane well. We saw her grow up before our eyes, release an album (Chambre 12), then two (Louane), each certified triple platinum. In it, she recounts her life as a young woman discovering love, adulthood and fame. After her second album, released in 2017, followed by two sold-out tours, Louane took a breather.
To take a step back from an existence made up of intense happiness and pain: everything in her life has always been very black, or very white. These joys, these faults, these victories and these battlefields, Louane exposes them more than ever before. In Joie de vivre, the album that most resembles him. And perhaps, also, his most touching record.
Joie de vivre is Louane today. Changing, multiple, profound. Who has turned towards a resolutely modern sound, inspired by what she listens to every day. Joie de vivre is Louane’s least organic album, but it is the one with the most audacious, sophisticated production. Each chorus and verse evokes a landscape taken from a wide angle, a reflection of all those she has crossed.
Like the cinematic synthesizers of Poésie Indécise, or those reminiscent of seventies California, of Donne-Moi Ton Cœur: two titles signed by the Belgian rapper Damso, with whom Louane insisted on working after seeing him in concert. In the studio in Brussels, the two of them confided in each other until the end of the night. “Give me your heart”: a call to unveil itself as an invitation to travel, full of the promises of a road trip hurtling along the Pacific coast; a perfect pop pearl, as a Taylor Swift would sign.
Looking back on his past, Louane also bids farewell to childhood, after having long felt that he had not been weaned from it. A “goodbye” without regrets, but with nostalgia and pride. The future, in any case, is already opening up for the 23-year-old mother. And who weaves, in the superb A l’autre, a poignant link between past and present. More than a sweet-pink birth gift, the title explores the doubts and apprehensions inherent in motherhood. And evokes Louane’s relationship with her mother, difficult but, full of love. To stay as close as possible, once again, to the truth.
Because there is no truer truth than Louane in Joie de vivre. Entirely in its impulses as well as in its shadows. Human, complex, without concessions. To be discovered on all legal platforms or on our Instagram account !
