A mix of influences at Balenciaga for the next season ?
A graduate of New York University, Demetria began her career in press and public relations working for major brands such as Yohji Yamamoto and Christian Dior. Announced by Isabelle Guichot, president, and Alexander Wang, artistic director of the house, she will join Balenciaga as director of communications and brand from 1 December 2014.
Since 2007, she has held several positions at Nike before being appointed general manager of communications, focusing on special projects for the brand. She will bring her knowledge of fashion, sports and lifestyle to Balenciaga in this new chapter of the brand’s history. Based in Paris, she will work with Isabelle Guichot and Alexander Wang on the evolution of the famous luxury house. “I’m excited to have Demetria on board, we’ve known each other for years now, and I finally found the perfect opportunity for us to work together,” said Alexander Wang.
“Demetria has a unique talent, having built her expertise in different fields, she is always close to creativity and luxury. She will bring this blend of influences to Balenciaga and will work closely with Alexander Wang to drive the brand’s development in the fashion world, stemming from a unique heritage,” added the president.
