“We are not a t-shirt brand. It’s all about individuals and their stories, experiences, cultures and communities. T-shirts are just merchandising”.
Sons of Bastille is a community streetwear label that emphasises the primacy of the human being over the product. It draws its inspiration from the culture of one of Paris’ emblematic districts, Bastille, by celebrating the “French Fighting Spirit”, the idea that every fight deserves to be fought.
The brand’s slogan is “We are the sleeping giant”. Whether alone or in a community, an individual must take indignation and fight against all forms of oppression and injustice. The brand supports diversity, which is an undeniable strength, and they remind us that strength is in numbers.
The project is supported by various artists such as Vicelow, a former member of the Saian Supa Crew or Justiciers, a group of Hip Hop dancers protected by the Twins.
Sons of Bastille launched its participatory fundraising campaign on the Ulule platform on 31 January 2021 to produce its first collection entitled “Chapter One”. It includes a set of t-shirts, including a limited edition t-shirt (inspired by Lena Waithe’s film Queen & Slim) and a sweatshirt.
This jackpot will not only allow them to boost their development but also to launch the creation of their SOBAS SMART SHOP, an application with which some of their tees can be scanned to find out more about the visuals, the artist in collaboration or the label.
The history of Sons of Bastille is fascinating and their strength is contagious. Don’t forget to support them because the campaign is always open.
