The origin of braids goes back to prehistoric times on the African continent. The braiding is declined through different styles according to the ethnic groups. The braids cross the ages and become a true ancestral art, suspended during the slave trade. Indeed, slave traders shaved the heads of captives to remove their cultural identity.
This hairstyle was increasingly popular in the 90s until the 2000s, before fading. With the extent of social media and the new tiktok generation, braids have returned to the forefront.

Boho braids are the perfect combination between rigid braids and loose curls. Simply complete the braids with curly additions that are hooked at the hairline.
The year 2023 also marks the return of micro-braids. These braids were essential in the R&B video clips and in the girl bands of the years 2000. Attention ! It takes at least two days to achieve the hairstyle. It could be kept from 5 to 6 months.
Jayda Wayda braids are the fastest to achieve. They are thick braids and popularized by the African-American actress Jayda Wayda. Braiding takes 30 minutes to 1 hour. The technique? We section in four or five times its hair with elastics and then braid.

Braids are accessible and achievable by everyone and for all hair types. They are the addition of centuries of ancestral techniques of many centuries that have been spread to the West.
