If you haven’t heard of this lovely brand yet, it won’t be long before you’re hooked. J’ai mal à la tête, created in 2012 by two people from Munich, Anja Pawlik and Roman Dorfner, has absolutely everything to please. The name alone intrigues us right from the start.
Taken from a book by the writer Fernando Pessoa, “The Book of Intranquility”, the full phrase being “I have a pain in my head and in the universe”, referring to the fact that what remains seems more important than ever. The designers have built their various collections around pieces that endure over time, despite seasonal trends and fashion dictates. They play with male/female stereotypes, creating with complete freedom and without imperatives, while responding to the demands of their target market.
The silhouettes are both elegant and casual, with a great deal of originality and feeling. The aim is to create timeless pieces, far removed from fast fashion. To achieve this, they naturally rely on the sustainability of their production. The designers have all their pieces made in Europe, allowing them to follow every stage of production. Quality materials and fair trade production are a point of honour for this brand, which likes to use only top-of-the-range fabrics that combine modern technology with traditional craftsmanship.
Now, having conquered Germany, the brand is exploding internationally with its participation this year at Who’s Next in Paris. Below, we present the brand’s Fall-Winter 2016/17 lookbook, with a women’s collection for the second season running.
