The Nouvelle Seine will open its doors tomorrow at 7pm for “Stand Up 4 Africa”, a great evening of stand up for Africa. On the programme, a set hosted by Shirley Souagnon with Verino, Bun Hay Mean, Marine Baousson, Candiie and Adrien Arnoux. This event will benefit AMREF, the leading public health NGO in Africa. All funds raised from this evening of laughter and solidarity will support AMREF’s Stand Up for African Mothers campaign, which aims to train 15,000 African midwives to help reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in sub-Saharan Africa.
Thanks to this campaign, 7,000 midwives have already been trained in 8 African countries (Kenya, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Uganda, Senegal, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia). The mobilization continues because each trained midwife means 500 mothers and babies helped each year! The artists and the whole team of La Nouvelle Seine and AMREF are expecting a large audience for this exceptional evening of stand up solidarity.
AMREF in brief: Founded in 1957 in Kenya, AMREF Flying Doctors is today the first public health NGO in Africa and the first pan-African organisation to train health personnel. AMREF trains 150,000 health workers each year and assists 12 million people in Africa, mainly in rural areas and with a priority given to women and children.
