Since 2018, Shygirl has been attracting attention with her music and visual world of her own. Composer, singer, rapper and director, the versatile British hyper-pop revelation has finally released “Firefly”, the first single from her debut album Nymph.
From her South West London borough, Shygirl has become in a few years one of the new muses of cool alongside Sega Bodega, Coucou Chloé and oklou, all co-creators of the label NUXXE.
Her first EP Cruel Practice and above all her successor ALIAS (2020), pushing the identity game even further, stamped her own: a nonchalant confidence displayed on club anthems evoking sexual desires or romantic frustrations with an unparalleled freedom.
Shygirl moves the intimate universe of a woman who would be described as elusive into the expiatory decorum of the unbridled and sultry party. Such a show of force has had the desired effect, with Shygirl attracting audiences, media and the fashion world in need of such embodied figures, inviting total expression of the senses and sensations.
It is in a time of pause after the tumult of those emergent years that she can approach this new turn. Away from the hustle and bustle of her emergent years, Shygirl can take a break and explore the foundations of Nymph in Brighton with her long-time partner Sega Bodega and other close collaborators like Mura Masa. While intimacy is still at the heart of her new songs, Shygirl will explore a more vulnerable nature.
After the explosion of impulses, she leaves room for deeper and more personal emotions. A return to herself that musically draws on her love of pop and R&B from the 90s and 2000s.

The first single “Firefly” sets the stage for a form of disenchanted romance, with Shygirl lamenting an unfulfilled love. “I guess I need to hear the truth this time / You kept me waiting on a lie… Waiting on a lie” *. In tune with this new palette of emotions, the BPMs soften, the typically British 2-step rhythm takes on a more scintillating, refined look.
