Acne is not always associated with adolescence. In France, Skin & Out estimates that one in four adults is affected by acne today.
It is a reality that is still often experienced in silence, even though acne can have a significant impact on self confidence, both at work and in personal life. It was in response to this reality that sisters Amélie and Fleur created Skin & Out, a brand designed to support adults with acne in a different way.
Two sisters, ten years of acne and a desire to change the rules
The story of Skin & Out began with a personal experience. In 2019, at the ages of 25 and 27, Amélie and Fleur saw their acne return after stopping contraception. After almost ten years of dealing with acne, they realised that the solutions available were often similar to those they had known as teenagers. Their ambition was to stop simply treating the symptom and instead understand what was happening beneath the surface.
The two sisters left their jobs in September 2019 and surrounded themselves with a committee of health experts to develop a new approach. In March 2020, they launched their community around a strong idea: talking about acne without shame and showing real skin. A few months later, they launched La Bento on Ulule, their comprehensive solution designed to work both from within and externally.
An IN & OUT approach that goes beyond the spot
At Skin & Out, adult acne is presented as a multifactorial condition that can be influenced by hormones, stress and certain lifestyle factors. The brand therefore aims to go beyond simply treating individual spots and offers a more holistic approach.
Its range includes several categories, including cleansers, food supplements, hydrocolloid patches, targeted treatments, masks, herbal teas and complete routines. La Bento combines IN & OUT products with personalised online support. Skin & Out also offers solutions for different concerns, including occasional breakouts, hormonal acne, microcysts, acne scarring and inflammatory spots.
A new way of looking at the skin
Beyond its products, Skin & Out promotes a more open and positive approach to acne. The brand also addresses what it describes as “acne shaming”, with its data indicating that one in two people affected by acne have experienced humiliating comments.
With its natural, holistic and non judgemental approach, Skin & Out aims to change the way imperfections are perceived: treating the spot, understanding the factors surrounding it and, above all, learning to live with skin that does not need to be perfect to be embraced.
