We attended the press conference for the adaptation of the American format “Project Runway”, PROJECT FASHION, presented by Hapsatou Sy, last week, which will air for the first time on Tuesday 3 March 2015 at 9.50 pm on D8 !
9 candidates, all young fashion designers, will compete for several weeks. Each week, their mentor, Donald Potard, will present them with complex and original challenges: creating clothes, of course, but in situations and with materials that are often unexpected! Over the course of the weeks, the candidates will present the fruits of their labour at fashion shows. They will be judged on their creativity, originality and talent by a jury of professionals made up of the stylist Catherine Baba, the journalist Alexandra Senes and the couturier Roland Mouret.
Each week, one candidate will leave the programme. The finalists will have six weeks to prepare a collection that they will present at Fashion Week. Only one designer will win this first edition of Projet Fashion.

ROMAIN – 30 YEARS OLD. This Parisian dandy finds his inspiration by walking around his city. After having been a model and a buyer, Romain chose the profession of designer as an obvious choice. Opulence, decadence and feathers are his watchwords, he creates outfits that he presents as performances.
SUZY – 49 YEARS OLD. The oldest member of the group, from the Paris region, entered the fashion world in the 1980s. She has created her own brand and style. Coming from a family of dressmakers, appearance, clothes and look have always been very important. Vintage is her trademark.
MATIAS – 27 YEARS OLD. For this young stylist, fashion is more than a job, it is a heritage, a family story. Of Portuguese origin, his grandmother grew flax and his mother taught him embroidery at a very young age, which quickly gave him a passion for fashion. After working for a designer after finishing his studies, Matias recently launched his own brand. His specialties are the details and the finishing touches, which he believes determine luxury.
TARA – 25 YEARS OLD. Finnish by birth, Tara chose the same profession as her mother: fashion designer. She learned everything from her. Tara has been living in London for a few years and is currently working for Alexander McQueen. She has created a “rococo punk” style as she defines it herself!
PIERRE HENRY – 27 YEARS OLD Pierre-Henry started out as an optician and has been working in fashion for 4 years now. Quick and precise, Pierre-Henry is quite sure of himself. He has a preference for technical fabrics, his style: a mixture of hard and delicate materials.
ADELINE – 30 YEARS OLD. This Strasbourg native has created her own brand and opened her own boutique. Adeline wears many hats: stylist, pattern maker, seamstress, saleswoman, accountant… She takes care of everything and offers her customers original handmade creations!
JOFFREY – 25 YEARS OLD. Joffrey was born in Paris. Very early attracted by art, he discovers and is passionate about sewing which becomes his means of expression. After studying communication and fashion design, working with young designers and then in the Givenchy workshops, Joffrey decided to set up his own creative project. His assets: a strong-willed, independent character and a nice mix of audacity and fragility, know-how and emotions.
LAURELINE – 26 YEARS OLD. Laureline grew up in Grenoble and lives in Apt. Passionate about sewing since her early childhood, her mother taught her the basics. Her experience in a fashion school in Japan has completely marked her originality and developed her creativity.
LOUIS – 22 YEARS OLD. The youngest of the adventure has been out of school for less than a year, he has not yet created his own brand but he is thinking about it very seriously. Louis started drawing at a very young age, after his studies and various internships. He currently works for a high-end ready-to-wear brand. Louis loves kitsch and everything that glitters, he says of himself that he sometimes overflows a little on the bad taste…
