Caskey Interview of Ymcmb

#KODDMUSIC presents an interview with Caskey, the new YMCMB prodigy who came all the way from Orlando for the Moxnoz brand; the time of an evening organized by the brand for a showcase and a fashion show on Friday, June 13th at the Palais Maillot. Moxnoz is a young French street/chic brand that offers collections based on the New York universe with a single motto “FORCE”.

#Koddmusic : What is your background ?

Caskey : I’m Caskey, I’m from Orlando, Florida. I’m a 21-year-old rapper. I met Birdman when I was 19. Shortly after I met him, he signed me to YMCMB. I love to travel and make music.

#Koddmusic: Why rap?

Caskey: When I was young, I listened to heavy metal; however, in high school my sister introduced me to hip-hop. I discovered that I really liked hip-hop and I started writing my own rhymes.

#Koddmusic: Tell me about the beginning and signing with Cash Money.

Caskey: When I unveiled my mixtape entitled “No Complaints”, my team and I were stuck in the roots of marketing and promotions. We hand-distributed our CDs all over the East Coast of the United States. In addition to the hand-deliveries, my team and I posted a lot of video clips online for the hip-hop community. We placed videos on sites such as WorldStarHipHop.com, HotNewHipHop.com, DJBooth.net and many more. By the grace of God, Birdman saw one of my videos and contacted my team and me because he wanted to meet with us. The meeting went very well, Birdman liked the rest of my music and videos so he felt like I should be a member of the YMCMB family.

#Koddmusic: What are your musical influences?

Caskey: I like everything! I like Smooth Jazz, I like country, I like heavy metal, I like rap … I like music !

#Koddmusic : Tell me about your last mixtape ” the transient classics ” – Parle-moi de ta dernière mixtape ” the transient classics “.

Caskey: I love my latest mixtape “The Transient Classics”. It’s a project that I’m enormously proud of because of the intellect that I was able to bring out throughout the project. A lot of the beats/production is done by The Avengers who are also signed to YMCMB. I’ve been able to work with great people on this project such as MGK, Rittz, Trae Tha Truth, Kyle Denmead and many more.

#Koddmusic: What are your future projects?

Caskey: I’m currently working on another mixtape and my first album 🙂
