#KODDMUSIC presents its second interview with Abii, a young English singer, with a soul voice that will transport you into a poetic and realistic universe full of emotions. Rediscover Abii through an exclusive interview for Kodd…
#Koddmusic: Your background?
Abii: Originally from Nottingham (a nod to my city), I moved to London at 18 to start my university studies. It’s not easy to sum up the story of my life, but to put it simply, I’m just a 20 year old girl like any other!
#Koddmusic: Why music?
Abii: I come from a family of musicians, which has influenced me a lot. And I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. Singing, making music, it’s part of me. I can’t help it (even when I try!).
#Koddmusic: Who would you like to collaborate with?
Abii: There are so many talented musicians (and I’m lucky enough to know some of them)… Lots of English artists I’d like to work with at the moment. But on a bigger scale, singing with an artist like Frank Ocean would be the perfect collaboration! Or singing on a SBTRKT or Zero 7 production…
#Koddmusic: When’s your first EP?
Abii: I can’t confirm an official date at the moment, but stay tuned on my social networks and you’ll know as soon as the info comes out?
#Koddmusic: What are your musical influences?
Abii: There are a lot of them and they are very diverse (but I won’t bother you)… From a vocal point of view, I would say Lauryn Hill, her voice is just perfect! I also appreciate collectives that manage to produce atmospheric music, like Zero 7. If my music could create a musical vibe like theirs, I would be over the moon.
#Koddmusic: What do you think of Kodd magazine?
Abii: I really like KODD magazine. I usually go straight to the fashion section. There’s always some really cool looks that I’ll dream of wearing…
#Koddmusic: Any last words for Kodd readers?
Abii: Stay cool 😉
