Formed in 2002, Stuck in the Sound are a Parisian band who never cease to surprise and delight with their indie rock.
With some pretty cool influences from the 90s, ranging from the Pixies to Nirvana, via hip hop culture with Wutang Clan, it’s fair to say that the band know how to draw inspiration. So it’s only logical that they should get off to a rocking start with sounds like ‘Delicious Dog’ and ‘Toy Boy’ from their debut album, a real treat of explosions made by uncontrollable kids.
Since then, they’ve taken a more pop-rock turn, but they’re still just as energetic and captivating. The instrumentals are more sedate, the vocals more controlled, the sounds more electro. The group is evolving in the image of its members: no more rambunctious youngsters, now certified artists.
The French band will be releasing their 4th album on 11 March, and it promises to be a new turning point for the band. It’s an album that’s very much of its time, very much ‘2016’, with a very broad vision and a very open rock sound. We’ll just have to wait and see, and the quintet have already released two extracts: ‘Pop pop pop’ and ‘Miracle’.
This latest track is accompanied by a colourful, messy video clip just the way we like it! The video shows the band in an 80s world on the set of a kitschy MTV show, with a series of videos, each more compelling than the last, in a delirious jumble produced by Passion Paris. The whole thing is set to a song that’s a cross between rock, pop, funk and electro. Pre-order the Survivor album HERE.
