From the Deep South in the USA to Paris, France
Krispy Kreme was born in the Deep South of the United States. Legend has it that the original recipe was developed in the early 1930s by a New Orleans chef, Joe Le Beau, a Frenchman to boot, who also registered the brand name before it was bought by a Kentucky shopkeeper, who entrusted the door-to-door sale of the doughnuts to his nephew Vernon Randolph. Vernon quickly saw the product’s potential and set up Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation in 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Since 2016, Krispy Kreme has been 44.5% owned by the German investment group JAB Holding, which specialises in consumer goods and owns the Prêt A Manger, Bally and Coty brands, among others.
Paris, the gastronomic capital ?
Krispy Kremers are driven by a singular and distinctive passion: producing fresh doughnuts every day. Krispy Kreme’s first Paris flagship is one of the most spectacular, combining the brand’s codes with a French touch. It plays a central role, making doughnuts in front of you, in a dedicated workshop, and a “hot light” warns you when the doughnuts are hot out of the workshop.
This first shop is located right in the heart of Paris, under the canopy of the Forum des Halles, an area popular with Parisians and tourists alike. It will be the brand’s flagship store in France. With a surface area of 550 m2, it is open 7 days a week, from 8am to 10pm, and is designed to offer you an exclusive and joyful experience, making the doughnut the ‘star’ of the place.

What we think of these famous doughnuts in one rating: 4/5. They’re delicious, of course, but you need to eat a balanced diet and avoid eating them every day. After all, when you say donuts, you say sugar. Take care of yourself and treat yourself at the same time – in moderation!
