Gone is the myth of ‘hustle culture’ and hard work at all costs. A new generation of entrepreneurs and creators is imposing a different tempo: that of slow success.
For a long time, success was measured in terms of sacrifice and productivity. But generation Z is challenging this model in favour of slow success, which favours a balance between ambition and mental well-being. Fewer working hours, more personal alignment and a more relaxed approach to success. This movement, which is gaining momentum on social networks, is redefining the codes of work and achievement.
Success in line with your values
The pandemic has accelerated the questioning of traditional models of success. Between burnout and the search for meaning, young working people are refusing to sacrifice their well-being on the altar of a career. Concepts such as ‘work-life blend’ and ‘job crafting’ are gaining ground.
This cultural shift is also reflected in a more conscious approach to money and productivity. Rather than aiming for wealth at any price, many are favouring flexibility, independence and passion.
A rejection of the cult of performance
On TikTok, trends such as ‘quiet quitting’ and ‘Bare Minimum Monday’ denounce the pressure to do more and more. Instead of putting in endless hours of overtime, the younger generation are looking to optimise their energy and give meaning back to their days.
This approach is turning the world of work upside down and raising questions about how companies need to adapt. Offering more autonomy, encouraging creativity and redefining the criteria for success are becoming imperative if we are to appeal to this new generation.
