The Frac d’Ile-de-France
The Fonds régional d’art contemporain, known as the Frac, of Ile-de-France will inaugurate its new site dedicated to contemporary art on 6 May 2021. Designed by the Freaks architectural agency, it is being built under the label “Komunuma”. “The reserves will offer the public the opportunity to discover more than 2000 contemporary works kept in private warehouses.
On the initiative of the public, who can decide to take a selection of works out of their storerooms and following a draw, the selected proposals will be visible to the public in one of the three exhibition spaces.
This new space is intended to become a cultural platform, which will strengthen the department’s position in the plastic arts. The Regional Fund, initiated by Jack Lang in 1982, brings together a collection from all over the world, which will soon be available for public viewing.
The fiminco foundation
This foundation, of French origin, reinvests an extraordinary industrial site at the gates of Paris and turns it into the new center for contemporary art in eastern Paris. It is a place for the public and for artists from all over the world. Including a residence, the foundation is designed as a professionalizing place that gives visibility to artists.
Residents are offered a privileged framework to develop their work before being presented to professionals of all kinds in the contemporary art world. Installed in the former boiler room of the industrial site, the exhibition setting is unusual. The spaces are oversized, which leaves the artists an infinite number of possibilities to use the space.
The emerging art galleries
The new spaces of the galleries Air de Paris, Galerie Sator, Galerie Jocelyn Wolff and In Situ Fabienne Leclerc, opened with the inauguration of “Komunuma”. All of these contemporary art galleries are free of charge and allow the exhibited artists to present their work to a wider public. On the occasion of the opening of the site, each of them presented unique and innovative exhibitions.
