Luca Schreiner is a 23-year-old producer, DJ, and musician from Stuttgart, Germany. His first successes came in the form of remixes, working with big names in the industry like OMI, Shaggy and Era Istrefi. More recently, Luca has continued his remix winning streak, supporting breakout hits from Louis Tomlinson, James Arthur, Alessia Cara, Kelly Clarkson and more on the way. The stats are impressive and speak for themselves, but they reinforce one thing: people love his music. Luca’s success has allowed him to play at some of the biggest clubs and festivals of the world like Marquee New York and the World Club Dome alongside artists like Don Diablo, Felix Jaehn, EDX and many more ! Luca Schreiner is a name to remember !
KODD MAGAZINE: Tell me about yourself and your career.
LUCA SCHREINER:I’m Luca Schreiner, a 23 years old DJ & producer coming from the south of Germany. I started producing way back when I was sixteen years old with Progressive House where I quickly found my love for melodies! Two years later I then started to switch my style to a more Dance Pop kind of sound, since I think that’s where the melodies stick out the most. Starting off with some unofficial remixes I quickly got asked to do official ones for some of the greatest artists and bands of our time! I was able to deliver official remixes for the likes of James Arthur, Alessia Cara, Shaggy, Kelly Clarkson, Louis Tomlinson, The Backstreet Boys and many more! Working on these remixes had some impact, so at that time I got in touch Ultra where I’m now signed to exclusively, which I’m super proud of !
KM: How did you started to work with SONY ?
LS: I actually work more closely with Ultra than Sony, even though they are part of the same Major family. I always had a contact at Ultra where I sent my most recent stuff to. So after sending this guy my music for over 2,5 years, my sound was finally there. Plus with all the remixes I worked on I gained some closer attention which of course also helped me getting into conversations with them. Since then I already released three singles with them, which did great and I’m super excited to have another one coming up on their label soon !
KM:Why did you choose to produce, instead of singing ?
LS: I must say I’m not musically trained at all. But I’m even worse at singing, so the answer was quite easy for me. Even though I’m not musically trained I was growing up in a family where music always played an important role. My dad also works in the business, so I got in touch with this music from a very young age. I basically teached myself everything in regards to producing and DJing by trial and error and by watching tons of YouTube videos and tutorials.
KM: What are your musical influences ?
LS: I first started producing because of Tiesto. I remember I was watching YouTube videos of him performing in front of thousands of people and I always asked myself : « How is this possible with only pressing buttons ? ». I loved the way he captured the crowd with his uplifting trance melodies and powerful drops. I just knew I wanted to do this on my own. Obviously my influences have changed over time but right now I guess my biggest musical influence are guys like The Chainsmokers, San Holo and NOTD. I just love their vibe and feeling for tracks, transporting emotions and a chilled feel.
KM: What is the next step of your career ?
LS: I was super busy the past few months working on new original music and official remixes ! I also just released a brand new remix for breaking UK artist Nina Nesbitt’s latest hit single « Loyal to Me », which is out now everywhere ! Plus there’s a new Luca Schreiner single coming up on my home label Ultra, which I’m super excited about as well !
KM: One last word for our readers, please ?
LS: I can’t wait for you guys to hear all the new music that is coming up ! Unfortunately I can’t tell you yet when the new single is coming out but the feedback has been amazing on label side – so be ready for this one ! Thanks for having me Kodd Mag, this interview was fun !
