Le Roi Angus is an indie-pop rock band from Geneva. Martin, alias Casimir M. Admonk -songwriter- is surrounded by three musicians who find themselves at the frontier of the indie-anglophone scene and French song.
The initial influences are intergenerational but the Californian neo-psychedelic scene seems to be the point of attraction.
Beyond this mythical scene, the melodies of King Angus resonate with those of bands like Feu! Chatterton, Foxygen, Tame Impala or get closer to the rich universe of a Jacco Gardner. The lyrics recall the humor of Gainsbourg and the symbolism of Lescop or the singer Fishbach. This third album is the image of a long summer dream.
Under the artistic direction of Renaud Letang, known for his work with Alain Souchon, Manu Chao or Mathieu Boogaerts, Philippe Katerine, Gonzales or Connan Mockasin. Close to the soaring, offbeat and poetic worlds of Timber Timbre, Infinite Bisous or Homeshake, King Angus has a place on the big European and international stages.
“We wanted to make a film about being trapped in an enigma. Juxtaposed with the sensual sound of Lying on the Sand, the images give a sense of mystery and danger. The classic questions emerge: Is the shadow following the girl or is she being guided by her dark alter ego? Can a race up a sandy hill ever end? Where does the evolution of the chicken and the egg begin?”
Le Roi Angus will be in concert on November 15, 2022, in Paris. A second album named “Sosie” is in preparation for the beginning of 2023.
