Hermès officially enters into haute couture, the Azzedine Alaïa foundation and its forthcoming fashion exhibition with two portraits, firsts images from the Bridgerton series reveal.
Hermès officially launches into haute couture
In an interview with the Financial Times in October 2024, Hermès boss Axel Dumas confessed the idea of launching the company into Haute Couture. While its ready-to-wear business has grown significantly in recent years, this has now been confirmed by the presentation of the Parisian luxury house’s annual results, which exceeded €15 billion in 2024, with a 13% increase in ready-to-wear.
The new business is expected to be up and running by 2026, or even 2027. Axel Dumas told a conference on Friday 14 February: “What interests us in haute couture is know-how. We already have a very, very high standard, an incredible quality of leather, and we said to ourselves: why not?”

The next Azzedine Alaïa Foundation exhibition
The Azzedine Alaïa Foundation has opened its doors to us for an exhibition paying tribute to two great masters of the feminin silhouette, Azzedine Alaïa and Thierry Mugler. “Artistic Connivances”, curated by Olivier Saillard, traces the friendly evolution of the two designers, fuelled by their mutual artistic endeavours.
The exhibition recalls the careers of the two designers, who, despite their different and nuanced styles, “share a common silhouette in which majestic shoulders contrast with narrow waists and blossoming hips, memories and fantasies of the fashions of the 1930s and 1950s, led by Adrian couturiers Jacques Fath, Christian Dior and Cristóbal Balenciaga”. Thierry Mugler takes an extravagant, even flamboyant approach, while Azzedine Alaïa is more intimate and perfectionist. ‘Connivences artistiques’ is made possible by Azzedine Alaïa‘s immense fashion heritage, which has preserved over 200 Thierry Mugler-branded creations, around forty of which are exhibited in dialogue with his own archives. The exhibition will open on 3 March 2025 and run until 29 June 2025.
