KODD : How would you define modest fashion and what is the message behind this commitment ?
MASSODAH SHABODIEN : Modest fashion to me means a way of preserving and guarding your beauty by dressing conservatively. It’s a way of leaving an impression of yourself and your way of life as modesty is not only the clothes you wear but your lifestyle as well.
K : What are the reasons that led you to create your clothing brand ?
MS : The reasons that led me to creating my clothing brand started from a young age. It was my passion after seeing my mom sew. I grew to love what she was doing and as a child we used to make clothes for all my dolls. Ever since then I never gave up on my dream to further my studies as a Fashion designer. After graduating I out my Fashion Design degree to use by starting my own small local South African brand and hoping it will grow bigger on a global scale in the future.
K : Can modest fashion become the future of fashion ?
MS : Modest fashion can definitely become the future of fashion. You don’t have to be Muslim to dress modestly. It’s a style on its own, not necessarily a religious dress code.

#6 ZEINA ALI
KODD : How would you define modest fashion and what is the message behind this commitment ?
ZEINA ALI : Modest Fashion occupies a large space in the world of fashion. Many women are not able to wear international fashion because it does not fit with their customs and values, which stipulate wearing modest dress. Hence, many fashion designers have highlighted modest fashion, which combined the beauty of fashion, its boldness and its suitability to society.
Modest fashion suits all women, and there is a huge trend currently in the modest fashion industry.
Modest fashion is also a type of style or way of expressing one’s personality and some values for some societies and its part of the traditions.
I go with this type of fashion, because a large part of the fashion world that needs its presence and needs to be creative in it, from merging colors to bold designs in order to appreciate the successful woman who loves modest clothing, finding options with creative cuts and multiple colors
K : What are the reasons that led you to create your clothing brand ?
ZA : There are many reasons
1. When the brand started, there was a need in the Arab market for modest clothes in bold colors, and
they were monopolized only for basic colors such as black, white, brown
2. One of the main reasons is to combine fashion and success stories of inspiring women from the local community, highlighting the challenges and their reflection in the designs, colors and quality of fabrics used for each group according to the goal of the message that we want to spread to all women to motivate them.
3. Combining color and human energy with fashion, because clothes are one of the things that women buy and consume the most.
K : Can modest fashion become the future of fashion ?
ZA : In my opinion it’s the present and the future of fashion as we see In 2018 the global modest fashion industry was worth US$283bn—a figure that is expected to balloon to US$402bn by 2024. And this is a good indication for the modest fashion
As we can see, the royal families have the greatest influence in the fashion industry and despite the differences between them, their number one rule in their designs is to wear modest clothes.
