Dr Dre, the first billionaire hip-hop artist

Dr Dre ‘s a billionaire! A few weeks ago Forbes announced that P. Diddy was still at the top of the list of the richest hip-hop artists in the world with an estimated fortune of over $700 million. Yesterday’s rumor has finally been confirmed!

Apple would be in the middle of negotiations to buy the Beats brand co-founded by, Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine for 3.2 billion dollars. Dr Dre has therefore gone from 2nd on the list with a fortune of over 500 million to, billionaire with an unknown fortune for the moment! The contract includes the Beats Music download site and shares in the company that makes Beats headphones, speakers and earphones. We can imagine that Apple will eventually use the sound of Beats for its product range and we can’t wait to see the result!

This morning, singer/actor Tyrese Gibson and Dr Dre confirmed the rumour about instagram where you can hear Dr Dre saying: “the first Hip-Hop billionaire of the motherfucking west coast”.
