Your wedding day should be happy. Nothing should be left to chance. For the bride-to-be, the look is meticulously prepared. From the dress to the hairstyle, via accessories and especially the make-up, preparations are necessary. As far as make-up is concerned, on the big day, the objective is simply to make you a princess.
Your eyes and your look reflect your beauty. In just a few touches, eye make-up will enhance your look. However, for your wedding, it is essential to adapt your make-up to your eyes. With the right techniques, you’ll have an enchanting look.
Here are our tips for adapting your bridal makeup to your eyes.
Wedding : choose eye make-up according to the shape of your eyes
When it comes to bridal make-up, the key words are lightness and refinement. Just as you adapt the colour of your lipstick to the shape of your mouth, choose your eye make-up according to its shape.
For small eyes
If you have small eyes, there is a wide range of bridal make-up ideas to choose from. With a well-chosen and well-done make-up, your eyes will be immediately elongated and your look enlarged. To do this, you will need a light coloured eye shadow to be applied to the inner corner of the eyes.
For a wedding, you can choose between :
- pale pink,
- white,
- ivory.
For an umbered effect, also consider applying a darker shade to the outer corner of the eye. Be careful, dark colours make the eyes look heavier. The eyes appear even smaller. For this reason, they should be avoided at all costs.
After applying eye shadow, outline your eyes with a pencil. The final touch is mascara. With well-curled lashes, your eyes will only get brighter.
For wide eyes
If you have large eyes, the appropriate make-up is the blended effect. As far as colours are concerned, it’s to your advantage, as all shades are suitable. Be careful though, bridal make-up is different from party or evening make-up. So, avoid too much glitter, black eyes or loud colours… Instead, opt for intense but soft colours, such as brown and beige.
With a pencil, draw a thin line above the lashes to emphasize the intensity of your eyes. Then add eye shadow to the brow bone. Using your fingertips or a suitable brush, blend the eye shadow and pencil together for a softer look. Finally, add mascara to add volume to your lashes.
For round eyes
On the inner corner of your eyes, as with small eyes, it is not advisable to use dark eye shadow. Instead, opt for white or pink shades to soften the bulging appearance of your eyes.
On the other hand, applying eyeliner and kohl will give your eyes a more stretched look. These should be applied to the outer corner of your eyelid. Don’t hesitate to go up slightly towards the forehead to get curved lines. These lines emphasize your beautiful eyes to give them a more almond shape. Finally, apply a light layer of dark eye shadow on these lines.
Choose your bridal make-up according to your eye colour
For optimal product and colour retention, you must first apply an eye shadow base. To do this, you can use :
- a sponge,
- a brush,
- your fingers.
For brown and dark eyes
Do you have brown or dark eyes? Almost any colour will suit you. Still, wedding make-up requires a natural and simple tone. Colours that close the eyes are therefore to be avoided. Instead, opt for natural colours.
For example, for fair skin, pastel shades are the most appropriate. Also, to make your eyes look even better, don’t forget to apply eyeliner and mascara to your eyes. The latter can of course be replaced by natural false eyelashes if you dream of having the famous doe eyes on your wedding day.
If you have black skin, the ideal is to choose pearly colours to make up your eyelids and enlarge your eyes at the same time. Also apply a line of black eyeliner for a more elegant and refined look.
For blue or green eyes
To begin with, blue and green colours should be avoided if your eyes are already one of these colours. Indeed, the aim is not to overload or weigh down your eyes, but to create a contrast to sublimate and bring out the colour of your eyes.
To make up your eyes, prefer the following shades:
- pink,
- brown,
- caramel,
- apricot,
- beige,
- copper.
Of course, the idea is not to apply them all at once! Choose one to add freshness and delicacy to your look. The “baking” technique will brighten up your eyes even more. In addition to adding dimension to your face, it avoids the hollow effect of make-up on the fine lines under your eyes.
Choose trends to shape your eyes beautifully
On your wedding day, your eyes will be the mirror of your emotions. Therefore, it is important to highlight them so that they are the only ones that can be seen. The doe-eye effect has been in vogue since 2020. An iridescent, golden or pink eyelid, voluminous black lashes, a fine and slightly graphic line of eyeliner… It’s the top of the trend if you want to give depth to your eyes.
Also think about redrawing your eyebrows with a brush and giving them consistency. This will accentuate the beauty of your eyes and structure your face in an ideal way.
