A key figure in the world of fashion, Anna Wintour is renowned for her bold vision, her impeccably chic curves and her famous sunglasses, all of which have made her a distinctive and easily recognisable figure. Her influence in the world of fashion is immense, as she has helped transform Vogue with flagship publications, spotlighting new designers as well as bold trends and cultural icons.
She also plays a key role in organising the Met Gala, one of the industry’s most prestigious events.
Her personality, often perceived as demanding and aloof, inspired the main character in the novel and film ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, played by Merly Streep, although the work is fiction. However, her ability to anticipate trends and keep Vogue at the top of the industry is a testament to her dedication and expertise.
Marc Jacobs takes the reigns of the keys to the magazine
Marc Jacobs, the famous fashion designer, has been invited by Anna Wintour to become the first guest editor of the American edition of the magazine for the December 2024 issue. For this special issue, Marc Jacobs has chosen model Kaia Gerber for the cover, with a photograph by Steven Meisel and a portrait painted by artist Anna Weyant.
The magazine’s content reflects his passions, highlighting themes such as dance, fashion and beauty. This collaboration marks an important step for Vogue, offering a fresh and creative perspective under the temporary direction of Marc Jacobs.

Who will succeed Anna Wintour?
Despite occasional rumours of her departure, Anna Wintour has shown no intention of stepping down. Although rumours have circulated about her succession, no official announcement has been made about her replacement. For example, in 2008, speculation suggested that Carine Roitfeld, then editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, might have replaced her, but this did not happen.

Back in 2009, she said in an interview that she had no plans to retire, believing that it was her responsibility to guide the magazine through periods of change. More recently, Edward Enninful, former editor-in-chief of British Vogue, was considered as a potential successor, especially as he stepped down in 2023 and was replaced by Chioma Nnadi. So, no official information is available about a successor to Anna Wintour at Vogue. It could well be that, like Karl Lagarfeld, she will remain editor until her last breath.
