Since the creation of the Puma King pair in 1968, it has become an iconic piece among the world’s best football players. Puma is collaborating with Alexander McQueen to pay tribute to its famous pair by producing two new handcrafted models in a very limited edition of 100 pieces.
They will not be marketed but will be offered to certain players as a tribute to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, which will take place in a few weeks. The first model, with a gold finish, is the Fish Skin, of which 30 pieces have been made and which is reminiscent of the Golden Shoe (an award given to the top scorer at the World Cup tournament). The second model, made of soft, hand-polished Italian leather, is made in 70 pieces and evokes the glorious past of football in a traditional high-end spirit.
To celebrate this capsule collection, the two brands are presenting a short film, shot in Italy, which retraces the various stages of the manufacturing process of these shoes, from the moulding of the last to the meticulous shaping of each cleat. Each step of this video tells the evolution of the most iconic pair of the brand. A perfect union between tradition and technology.
