The new fashion designers from the 2026 Met Gala to watch closely

    Accueil > FASHION > Kloset

The 2026 Met Gala confirmed one thing: a new generation of designers is actively redefining the codes of contemporary luxury.

This year, the theme “Fashion Is Art” pushed celebrities to favour more conceptual, theatrical and emotional silhouettes than ever before. As a result, several independent designers managed to capture far more attention than traditional luxury houses.

Beyond the spectacular looks, this 2026 edition highlighted a more narrative, more identity driven and often more daring approach to fashion. Celebrities are no longer simply looking for a “beautiful” dress for the red carpet. They now want to tell a story, evoke emotion and express a strong artistic vision.

Among the biggest winners of this edition, several emerging designers have established themselves as future key names in international fashion.

Burc Akyol and Harris Reed, the designers who elevated French stars

This year, French personalities particularly stood out at the 2026 Met Gala thanks to powerful fashion choices. Léna Situations and Yseult notably helped bring two designers into the centre of fashion conversations: Burc Akyol and Harris Reed.

For her third Met Gala appearance, Léna Situations made a statement in a sculptural creation by Burc Akyol. The Franco Turkish designer, known for his minimalist and sensual approach, designed a silhouette featuring a sculpted metallic bustier and a powder blue draped skirt with striking cuts.

Burc Akyol is gaining attention from a new generation of celebrities thanks to his highly architectural approach to clothing. His aesthetic blends sensuality, fluidity and contemporary sophistication while maintaining an elegant sense of restraint. Following this Met Gala, his name is expected to gain even more international visibility.

Yseult, on the other hand, delivered one of the most theatrical appearances of the night in a custom black gown designed by Harris Reed. The British designer, already admired by artists such as Harry Styles and Florence Pugh, continues to assert his spectacular vision of fashion.

A sculpted gold corset, dramatic volumes and an oversized feathered headpiece made Yseult’s look a perfect interpretation of the theme “Fashion Is Art”. Several media outlets and online commentators considered it one of the most creative looks of the evening.

Harris Reed perfectly represents this new wave of designers who treat fashion as a form of artistic performance.

Dilara Findikoglu, Connor Ives and Collina Strada, the new generation of conscious fashion

Another strong trend from the 2026 Met Gala was the rise of socially and culturally conscious designers.

Dilara Findikoglu remains one of the most fascinating designers of the moment. With her body inspired silhouettes, deconstructed corsetry and deeply narrative gothic universe, the Turkish British designer left a strong mark on this year’s edition. Her dark and organic aesthetic aligns perfectly with the industry’s growing appreciation for strong identity driven and emotionally charged design.

Connor Ives is another designer to watch closely. His work blends nostalgic references with a contemporary generational sensibility. His designs mix vintage influences, textile reconstruction and modern glamour. Highly popular among Gen Z celebrities, he is steadily establishing himself as a leading figure in the new London fashion scene.

Collina Strada also continues to stand out. Founded by Hillary Taymour, the brand promotes a more experimental and eco conscious vision of fashion. Bold colours, asymmetrical silhouettes and environmental awareness define her work, making her one of the most distinctive voices in the current fashion landscape.

These designers share a common trait. They do not simply create garments, they build complete creative worlds capable of shaping culture and community.

Robert Wun and Matières Fécales, the most avant garde designers of the moment

The 2026 Met Gala also confirmed the rise of highly conceptual and experimental designers.

Robert Wun is now regarded as one of the most innovative designers of his generation. The Hong Kong born designer created the striking anatomical look worn by Naomi Osaka, composed of hundreds of thousands of embroidered details evoking muscles and blood vessels.

His approach constantly blurs the boundaries between couture, sculpture and performance art. Each look feels like a living installation designed to provoke an immediate emotional reaction.

In an even more radical direction, the duo Matières Fécales continues to fascinate the fashion industry with its dystopian and deliberately provocative aesthetic. Their anti conformist universe increasingly attracts celebrities who want to move away from traditional Hollywood glamour codes.

This new generation fully embraces excess, experimentation and artistic provocation, which is exactly what audiences now expect from the Met Gala.

The 2026 Met Gala marks a new creative era

The 2026 Met Gala will likely be remembered as the edition where independent designers truly took control of the fashion narrative.

Burc Akyol, Harris Reed, Dilara Findikoglu, Robert Wun and Connor Ives represent a new vision of fashion that is more emotional, more artistic and far more identity driven. Their success shows that the luxury industry is shifting towards authenticity, experimentation and strong visual storytelling.

Today, the designers who truly leave a mark are no longer only those who master traditional craftsmanship, but those who can turn every appearance into a cultural experience.
