It’s no wonder that actor Chido Nwokocha assumed a lead role in Tyler Perry’s BET dramedy series, “Sistas,” being that he comes from a family of seven.
Since its inception, the show has become the top-rated scripted cable series for Black viewers.
Written, directed, and produced by Perry, “Sistas” follows a group of single black females as they navigate their complicated love life, careers and friendships through the ups-n-downs of living in the age of social media and unrealistic relationship goals. Chido portrays the handsome, smooth-operating, charismatic CEO of a Fortune 500 company who, despite being married with children, longs to be with one of the “Sistas.”
Born and raised in Sacramento to Nigerian immigrant parents, Chido and his siblings excelled at athletics and respectively flourished under their supportive eye. After graduating with a degree in Health Administration from Ohio University, Chido moved south to Los Angeles where a succession of roles soon followed. He appeared in an arc on Steven Bochco’s acclaimed “Murder in the First,” as well as guested on such series as “The Resident,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Scorpion,” “Shooter,” “The Night Shift,” and “The Rookie.” Film credits include “Destroyer” with Nicole Kidman, and the anticipated and long-awaited “Top Gun: Maverick” with Maverick himself, Tom Cruise (May 27th).
In his spare time, Chido parlays his natural athleticism into a consistent workout regimen that helps maintain his ripped physique.
