The limited make-up editions for spring 2016 are clearly pastel. The big brands, from Guerlain to Yves Saint-Laurent to Dior, are going for softness, as are the smaller brands, which are going for a marshmallow look! The complexion is sheer, the lips sorbet and the touches of colour will go mainly on the eyes and nails.
For the complexion, at Yves Saint Laurent we’re crazy about the rainbow palette from the Boho Stones pastel collection which, with its four colours, is sure to give your face a lovely boost. Guerlain wants to make us smile with this “Smile” engraved blush, as pretty in its packaging as in its colour, which will make our cheeks turn pink.
Like every year, the highlihters in Dior’s Diorskin Nude Air range, Glowing Gardens, are to die for, with champagne and pink gold on the programme. This spring’s must-have item is without a doubt this Lancôme palette, from its My Parisien collection. Nine little cubes with a creamy mousse texture that can be used as eyeshadow, highlighter or blush. We’re just waiting to be able to dip our fingers into this half-mousse, half-cream texture. But everything, from the packaging to the presentation of the shadows, is a success.
The more classic eyeshadows are all one or all the other, ranging from the pastel palettes of the Dior collection to the outright flash of Givenchy or Chanel and its L.A. collection. Sunrise collection, which provides three of its crazy shadow illusions. In fact, blue is a must-have, whether used as a shadow, a solid or just as a liner for a tailor-made pop!
Beauty addicts are especially looking forward to the release of Too Faced’s latest palette, with its cocoa scent and polly pocket packaging. Chocolate Bonbons will undoubtedly be the most talked-about release. Mascaras are undergoing a transformation, with black and brown now far too bland, and colour being played up to the tips of the lashes. Yves Saint-Laurent’s Volume Effet Faux Cils is reinvented in pink and turquoise, and Chanel’s Volume becomes plum.
Like every year, lips are becoming glossy and sheer again, and matte is out. We’re playing on freshness, as with Yves Saint-Laurent’s Rouge Volupté Shine, with its pop of colour but transparent as the name of the range suggests, or their famous Lip Lacquers. It’s easy to apply, with just a dab directly on the lips, and freshness is guaranteed.
Dior’s lip lacquers are here, with two Limited Edition Rouge Brillants, one pink and one red, perfect for the season. These lipsticks are highly pigmented and have a glossy texture that doesn’t stick. Three new products are also making their debut in the Lip Glow range: a new shade of the classic Lip Glow, the balm whose shade adapts to the colour of our lips, a tube version, Lip Glow pommade, and a pencil version.
The big stars of spring are our nails, and we’re coming out with colours that pop! My big favourite is the two varnishes in the Yves Saint-Laurent collection, two chrome duos, a blue-green with pink reflections and a golden pink, impossible to choose between the two, we’re crazy! Dior and Lancôme are more conventional in their textures, each providing four creamy varnishes. Special mention goes to Lancôme’s Blue and Dior’s Peony.
