Vickie Chérie and Leo Bear Creek met at lycée, and have since formed the electronic pop duo The Pirouettes. Their songs have an adolescent lightness about them, but the spontaneity and candour of their songwriting is matched only by its precision and depth.
To celebrate 2016, they have unveiled an extract from their forthcoming debut album, with a video directed by Kevin Elamrani-Lince. It’s a song entitled ‘2016 (en ce temps-là)’, in which we find Leo and Vickie’s lightness and elegance and their taste for polished electronic productions. The Pirouettes evoke the year to come in the past tense and disguise a declaration of love to French variety music as a song of anticipation, 2016 en ce temps-là…
Leo and Vicki make the most of the time dizziness this creates, freeing their song from all temporality to reach the universal. It’s a trick well mastered by the duo, who tell our own stories as they sing. Watch the clip below.
