Jonathan Anderson leaves Loewe, while Demna joins the GUCCI creative team. A look back at the sexy, girly gigs of the new Queen of pop: Sabrina Carpenter.
There was plenty of news from the fashion world this week, and on the music front Sabrina Carpenter shone with a thousand sequins. KODD magazine takes a look back at the week’s best moments.
Jonathan Anderson leaves Loewe
It was made official on 17 March when Jonathan Anderson bid farewell to the Spanish luxury leather goods brand. Appointed creative director in September 2013, Jonathan Anderson breathed new life into the brand. Not only did he help to increase the brand’s sales, he also helped to restructure a new, minimalist image. He developed leather goods, for which he created the Puzzle bag in 2015, which has become a fashion staple. “Under his leadership, Loewe experienced exceptional growth and established itself as a pioneer, offering a modern vision of luxury and culture, while remaining true to its historic commitment to craftsmanship,” the label said in a statement.
His successor has yet to be named, but rumours suggest that the choice will be made by the designers of American brand Proenza Schouler, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, who recently left their house. Jonathan Anderson is expected to take over as creative director of Christian Dior from Maria Grazia Chiuri.

Demna is GUCCI’s new creative director
On 12th March, the Kering Group officially announced the appointment of Demna Gvasalia as the new Creative Director of GUCCI. Currently artistic designer at Balenciaga since 2015, he will take up his new post in July 2025. Kering is once again operating the revolving chairs, due to the Florentine haute couture house’s financial deficit. Demna’s appointment is aimed at reinvigorating GUCCI sales. Who better than Demna to take up this challenge? The work done for Balenciaga is a perfect example. Demna’s creative vision is both avant-garde, with an aesthetic that transcends pop culture codes and mass-market references.
Gucci is preparing to enter a new creative era, and Demna is set to transform the Italian luxury house visually, thanks to her approach based on a contemporary and global culture.

The girly aesthetic at Sabrina Carpenter concerts
On 16th and 17th March, the new pop icon gave two concerts at the Accor Arena in Bercy. The venue was packed to the rafters with mostly female fans, copying the pop star’s baby doll style (bustiers, short skirts and fishnet stockings). On Sunday evening, Sabrina Carpenter made her towel entrance in front of 20,000 fans. She opened her towel on stage and revealed her outfit for the evening: a black and white bodysuit and fishnet stockings. The lights came up, and she was discovered in the heart of a gigantic two-storey penthouse, with a view of the New York skyline. At last, the show could begin! Surrounded by five dancers, her glitter microphone in hand and rising from the ceiling, ‘the young star kicked things off with her pop-rock hit “Taste”’.
A show with a touch of kitsch, where Sabrina Carpenter plays with her image. The show closes 1h30 later with the long-awaited sound of summer 2023 “Espresso”.
