Meeting with Carla, an art history student with a passion for painting. It is through this portrait that we will understand her creative process, her sources of inspiration and discover her paintings.
Carla, a student in art history, signed under the pseudonym of “KAA”, started painting 4 years ago, but she had already been drawing for 10 years, in particular with pencil and Indian ink to express herself. At the beginning, she had no idea of doing something public.
But it was during the confinement that she was able to have some free time and this is what allowed her to develop her artistic work, and to show these works on Instagram.
She has always been a film buff and it was thanks to the film that she started painting: she wanted these paintings to be reminiscent of film scenes, particularly because of a given atmosphere or specific narrative elements.
Very much attached to the notion of beauty in art, Carla wants her paintings to be pleasant to look at and it is through her meticulousness and the work of detail that she wants to convey a serene and poetic side. Indeed, she doesn’t like to look at an artistic work that is frontally violent.
Thus, the themes and elements she gathers in these first paintings are the sea, the notion of femininity and the energy that women can create when they come together, as well as nods to the films that have marked her.
For Carla, “Painting is a key that gives access to everything you feel deep inside”.
She is one of those creative seeds and considers that her dream can become a possible reality: to be a professional painter.
