Why do we want to be famous ?

Being famous is a quest for glory, it’s allowing yourself to dream big. It’s about wanting things that you can’t admit to yourself in real life.

Wanting to become famous stems from a need for recognition and therefore a need for love. For some psychologists, being famous also stems from a need to conquer people and spaces.

For some people, these “power urges” can become harmful and unhealthy, and for others, a real motivation to succeed.

Learning from others

Fame connotes the notion of notoriety. There is a desire to be famous and to create a place for oneself in society. It is also a notion of wealth and privilege. One suspects that being famous is not always a pleasure. But since social networks sell us an idyllic lifestyle, it is easy to think that we want to become famous to acquire the same privileges as the stars we worship.

No human being is immune to the urge to live the same lifestyle as these rich people. There is no magic formula for becoming famous, for some it is a stroke of luck and for others it is the result of hard work !

The setbacks of fame

There are many scandals due to fame. Yes, becoming famous means acquiring many privileges, but it also means losing your private life. Not everyone is capable of such a sacrifice and that is understandable. Some stars realise too late that this way of life does not suit them and sink into drugs, alcohol, depression and other situations that are difficult to balance in their lives…

Becoming famous also means accepting that your every move will be judged and commented on. You have to be mentally strong enough to resist this constant pressure, because the more famous you are, the more you are observed and judged !

Fame, if you are a victim of it, is a double-edged sword. It can be a real driver of success if used wisely, or a disaster if it all gets out of hand. Sometimes anonymity is better ! It is up to you to decide whether this is a good or bad idea for your future.
