Invited by Judith Glover, Professor of Industrial Design at RMIT University, Antonio Aricò led a 3-month design workshop and developed a collection of handmade ceramic tableware.
This is Antonio Aricò’s second collaboration with this Australian university. In 2014 he led a masterclass there on the theme of ‘Soprammobili’. The inspiration for the Shell Collection came to him last summer while swimming in the Ionian Sea in Calabria. In the past, various designers and ceramics companies have tackled the link between shells and ceramics, for example the ‘Nautile’ collection developed in the 1780s by Wedgwood.
