For 2 weeks, Paris was bubbling and exciting, it was fashion week ! From men to haute-couture, Kodd Magazine decodes the new trends !
Haute couture
During the third week of January, Paris hosted the spring-summer 2023 haute-couture fashion week. Elie Saab, Raoul Mishra, Juana Martin, Schiaparelli, Imane Ayissi and other great names of this universe were on display. Because haute-couture rhymes with know-how and excellence, this year again the houses opted for the most mythical and extraordinary places to present their collections.
For Juana Martin, it’s the American Church on Avenue George V, Elie Saab gives us an appointment at the Carreau du Temple and Chanel immerses us in the bestiary of Gabriel Chanel’s apartment on Rue Cambon.
This year the haute-couture shows were held in small groups. The haute-couture is prestige and exclusivity and the number of seats is limited.
What are the themes of this fashion week ?
The watchword of this haute-couture week : hyper femininity. Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli, plunges us into a revisited bestiary, by adorning his dresses with simple curves of fictional animal heads. At Stéphane Rolland and Rahul Mishra, the trend is towards ornamentation and baroque.
At Dior, Fendi, Giambattista Valli and Miss Sohee, the trend is towards transparency with voluptuous layering. The pink continues to impose itself on the catwalks, far from the flashy Valentino, Alexis Mabille and Zuhair Murad decline it in different pastel or pop shades. While Chanel reinvents the majorette, Haider Ackermann for Jean Paul Gaultier reinvents the corset, an iconic piece that has not finished declining.
Men’s Fashion Week
The men’s fashion week took place from 17 to 22 January 2023. On the program, 6 days of fashion shows and presentations of collections for the fall winter 2023-2024. This week dedicated entirely to these gentlemen, will see Kidill, Water Van Beirendorf, Wales Bonner, Kim Jones for Dior, Givenchy and John Galliano for Maison Margiela who closed this week perfectly !
To everyone’s surprise, Anthony Vaccarello the artistic director of Yves Saint Laurent presented his men’s collection in the Bourse de Commerce Pinault. The architecture was imagined by the architect Tadao Ando, whose approach is similar to his own.
We feel that men’s fashion takes off and importance over time. With a beautiful growth in the year 2022, the men’s wardrobe is increasingly fed by designers who dress men.
See you from February 27 to March 7, 2023, for the Parisian fashion week of women’s ready-to-wear, which has a lot of novelties and innovations in store for us !
