The singer Cécile McLorin Salvant, after winning the Grammy for the best vocal jazz album in 2016 for For One To Love continues, with this third album, Dreams & Daggers, its incredible rise!
Cécile McLorin Salvant first made waves in the jazz world when, at the instigation of her mother, she entered the most prestigious jazz singing competition in the world at the Thelonious Monk Institute. As she narrowly entered, she became the youngest artist to win the Thelonious Monk Competition in 2010 before a jury of Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dianne Reeves, Kurt Elling, Patti Austin and Al Jarreau!
Dreams and Daggers is a live double album recorded in New York at the famous Village Vanguard and at the DiMenna Center where we find her at the side of the trio with whom she has shot a lot: Aaron Diehl at the piano, Paul Sikivie at the double bass and Lawrence Leathers at the drums, on a repertoire of rare covers and personal compositions. But she also has a string quartet, the Catalyst Quartet and a duet with pianist Sullivan Fortner. Cécile McLorin Salvant is to discover with You’re My Thrill (to see below), the first single from her new album Dreams and Daggers.
