Mykita is an eyewear manufacturer based in Berlin. A constant search for innovation, the visionary use of materials and a wealth of experience in eyewear design are the defining elements behind MYKITA’s collections.
A key factor in the company’s success is its holistic business philosophy, which brings together expertise from all disciplines under a single roof, the MYKITA HAUS. It thrives on the power of a self-contained network that enables interdisciplinary research and the transfer of technologies. This all-encompassing mentality is also reflected in the MYKITA Shops; the unique retail concept unites the firm’s own design principles with optical precision made in Germany.
MYKITA’s eyewear collections are available at the firm’s own shops in Berlin, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Copenhagen, Monterrey, Cartagena, Zurich, Zermatt, Vienna and Tokyo as well as at selected opticians and fashion outlets in over 80 countries.
Mykita and fashion designer Tim Coppens, joined creative forces to launch their first collaboration frame : a highly wearable piece of eyewear futurism. Sunglass model TEQUILA has a strong design that express the shared focus on material development and dynamic mood of both brands. It has been wore on the Tim Coppens fashion show this 11th of january. It is inspired by motocycle universe from the nineties and TEQUILA undertake a modern design whithout any compromises. The glass is cut from a curved surface, that give the product a streamlined appearance.
TEQUILA is made using a 3D printing technology called Selective Laser Sintering. Its unmistakeable look and feel is achieved by a proprietary finishing treatment. The organic quality of the pigmented, matt surface contrasts with slick, mirrored lenses evoking the textured design language of sportswear. It will be vailable in five colourways, and the unisex model will be available from april 2017 in the MYKITA Shops, selected fashion stores and through the MYKITA E-shop.
“D’aussi loin que je puisse me souvenir, j’ai toujours admiré le travail de MYKITA et j’ai senti que leur approche était similaire à la nôtre.” Tim Coppens
