Desigual is showing its willingness to innovate. The Spanish brand is launching a new project in partnership with Plug and Play called “Awesome Lab”, a start-up gas pedal specialized in fashion, of a scale never seen before in Spain.
Desigual becomes the first Spanish fashion company to give a boost to a gas pedal with which to encourage the implementation of innovative solutions and the culture of innovation within the organization.
Assuming its role as a pioneer, the brand has set itself the objective of “fostering the implementation of innovative solutions and a culture of innovation within the organization”. The initiative is part of the brand’s strategic bet to make collaboration one of the main drivers that must be fueled with a good dose of creativity and innovation. The launch of Awesome Lab is a bet by Desigual on digital innovation and on intensifying the flow of knowledge and ideas with which to identify opportunities and quickly implement responses.
To do this, the company has partnered with Plug and Play, a leading global open innovation platform that has invested in companies such as Dropbox and PayPal, and whose mission is to connect the most innovative technologies emerging in startups with large organizations.
The initiative consists of an acceleration program that supports high-potential startups through mentoring and the provision of resources and tools. All this will help boost their growth and the development of solutions needed for the transformation of the sector.
In addition to actively participating in the support of the selected startups, the brand will involve the Digital Innovation department and professionals from different sectors in the evaluation and selection process. The startups will benefit from different resources and advantages with which they will be able to start their project: financing, access to Desigual’s central offices in Barcelona, equipment, key contacts, a network of suppliers or logistics-type services, depending on the needs of each company.
