AME·848 delivers its first collection: a contemporary and sustainable garment, developed to meet the needs of an era.
On March 24th, the first unique pieces stamped AME·848 were released, the latest project of Alexis Robert-Charrue. With his team, the Swiss designer, who is also the head of RX-Care, wants to offer a deeper and more contemporary vision of creations made from recycled materials.
Upcycling, as AME-848 understands it, is not just a trend, let alone a movement that will fade away next season: it is a new way of looking at clothing. Unfortunately, the overproduction of new products will not stop tomorrow and millions of new pieces will continue to be assembled all over the world.
Moreover, there are very few sewing techniques that allow the reconstruction of recycled clothing. Everything remains to be developed and the implementation of systems to optimise the efficiency of these techniques seems to be one of the major challenges in the field.
The pieces are divided into several ranges named according to their attributes and construction technique. “Reborn”, for a piece entirely revisited from recycled materials, “Evolved” where some new components are integrated or “Ultimate”, for models entirely imagined on the basis of specific cuttings.
Thanks to these techniques, which make it possible to carefully assemble a number of used garments as well as to exploit abandoned new raw materials, the future owners of these original and unique pieces will discover garments and accessories constructed with sensitivity, with the greatest respect for their own past.
Based on the principle that each piece has a soul, the creative interventions are carefully chosen to give them all the energy necessary for a new beginning. With this first release, AME-848 is positioning itself as an actor aware of the issues and challenges of its time.
